Very large king room with a small fridge/sink area, big windows/sliding door and lots of light. Comfy bed. Clean and very quiet. Four high speed elevators, so no waiting. Friendly staff. We asked for a higher floor if possible, and they put us on the 37th-- amazing views of English Bay, Kits, Lost Lagoon, etc. It's on Robson, right in the middle of the city. Tons of restaurants, shopping and services steps from the entrance. The building is obviously a little past its prime, but I find the hold.
all reviews » Exceptional value and superb central position. Cheap (for Vancouver) car-parking and no need to move the car once in the hotel. Staff very friendly. Clean, large room, big-screen television, nice en-suite, balcony, express lifts, express check-out, stunning views. Request a high floor unless you are scared of heights. Revolving roof-top restaurant was breath-taking and worth every cent of the fixed price menu. Get there at sunset and watch the city light up - one revolution took about an hour a. An old friend was staying at the Empire and I wanted a weekend to myself and I booked a standard double queen - expecting to be around the 9th Floor or so. The front desk person, Jock, helped me before and was very friendly previously and recently. He gave me a free upgrade to an executive suite on the 34th Floor and it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Very spacious, very clean; it was room 3405 so the patio faces north - BEAUTIFUL view of the mountains, Coal Harbour, Stanley Park Harbour, Robson Street. The beds, and especially the linens on them, were to absolutely die for. Made for a great sleep. I loved the view from my room overlooking Vancouver's westend, English Bay, and Kitsilano/Jericho Beach in the distance. The hotel is very comfortable and in close proximity to a lot of shopping, Stanley Park and the seawall, and tons of nightlife. Other than the carpet being worn in some places, the room was very clean and the housekeeping staff are to be commended on their attention to detail . The close proximity to downtown, the closeness to Canada Place and the docks was great for our own walking tour. The view was spectacular from the balcony that overlooks the harbor. The revolving restaurant at the top of the hotel was an added feature during the evening. The staff was extremely helpful, from offering to take our luggage to our room, to getting us a taxi. The abundance of shops along Robson Street was great. I would definitely stay at the Empire Landmark again. Clean, comfortable rooms with fantastic views over the city, harbour and mountains! Room included a refrigerator - one of my criteria. Great location. Walked to city centre, Davie street shops, West End shops and the beautiful Stanley Park. My Wi-Fi was not working in my room but staff were accommodating and moved me to a different room, no trouble at all. This high-rise hotel on Robson street is a few blocks to the west of the main downtown area. I was attending a conference at the Vancouver convention center on the harbor and it was about a 15 minute walk. There are lots of shops and restaurants right by the hotel, so it was a nice walk. I was on an upper floor and it was a nice view of the city and harbor. The reception went very smoothly, it was my first time checking into a hotel and the man was fantastic. The security was great, the room was perfect, very clean I loved the location, couldn't ask for a better view, especially with the shops on both sides of the hotel. The price was amazing, I got to spend what I saved on Christmas shopping! ^^. Staff was friendly enough, area was super convenient. Stayed on the 30th floor and the view was so incredible! Rooms are fairly small but decent enough when you're out all day and just using it for sleep. Overall, great value. I didn't mind that it was a bit impersonal because the view and price made up for everything. We arrived at 9am from a cruise ship and the front desk staff gave us the key to our room. We appreciated this very much as we had heavy luggage. The room had a fantastic view and was very clean and comfortable. There was a bus stop at the front door. Plenty of restaurants and shopping within a few minutes walk. We were given a room on the 35th floor and the view was incredible, could see the bay from each end of the balcony and a beautiful view from the dining area , lovely , lovely.. I liked the helpfulness of staff to place me in a good room with a great view close to the one where my daughter and her friend were staying. Staff were prompt to correct a small problem when it occurred. No problem with accommodation of a friend sharing the room for two nights. Booking in process excellent. I like to watch TV in bed. This is NOT a huge deal at all, but the distance from the TV to the bed was huge. Had to watch TV at a super high volume at night - even after changing volume settings - but I didn't get any complaints from guests next to/above/below me so...no big deal :). The carpets in my room seemed a little worn and the faucet in the restroom didn't work properly. I was going to call room service about the faucet but thought that it wasn't so much a problem that I couldn't put up with it for the one night I was there. The hotel is not new but it is reasonably well maintained. The WiFi was free and had a good signal, but the password with the re-direct web page had to be entered frequently. It appears that the parking rate is 15 can per day now and not the lower rate listed on the letsbookhotel.com page. Hnn, not a lot to say here, only that my shower shrieked when it was turned on. It went away and came back, so it wasn't a big deal. Housekeeping starts too early in the morning and you can hear street traffic, not that great if you're a light sleeper. Having to leave. I would be hard pressed to find something to complain about. Small problem was having the coffee packets available one day. The bath towel bar inside the bathtub area was unusual...but the towels stayed dry when I took a shower. The front desk staff was very brusque, almost impatient at times; maybe because of our payment class. When I checked in and ask to have a key waiting for my same-sex partner, the man on duty called him my roommate. He came off as very gay unfriendly. Another colleague of his at the desk was stiff. The air system had old regulators and it got warm in the room at times. So many highrise bldgs.ans can't see much of mountains and north side harbor which are very beautiful. Could have had a kettle in the room as we are tea drinkers and use a kettle not a coffee maker device...however we worked it out how to not quite to boil the water.Cheers. The only problem was every morning the room service was trying to open the door which was very annoying in the morning. Also if there would be some spoons, forks, and plats in the rooms that would be great. Would like a better breakfast deal at Cloud Nine. Free Wifi access somewhere in hotel would be a great addition. Nothing. The tap in the sink needs to be adjusted with turning on the water--no doubt the washer is too tight--sprayed the mirror when I held a cup over the tap. Ice machine and vending machines are not accessible after around 10 pm. We arrived back from a wedding just after midnight and could not get any ice or club soda - even though the machines are in a secured room that can only be opened by your door key. The decor is dated, but that downside is reflected in the room rate. A device charging station with a USB plug-in would help a lot. there were no quiet places to have A drink, everywhere you went there were about 3 - 4 televisions going on. The restaurant at the hotel did not offer an a la carte breakfast..had to pay full buffet price for my son who only had cereal. Tub was old and stained. Wish the restaurant had been open for brunch. The restaurant Cloud 9 on the top floor could be in a better condition and the price you pay for a meal (I went only once for breakfast there) doesn't reflect the quality of food. It was fine but for that price it should be better, unless they charge the great view of the city!. The shower walls needed a scrub and so did the bathroom door. Just minor things, the in the bathroom sink was difficult to adjust, and the heating of the room too. The lobby is pretty run down, and there is no place to sit. Also, hordes of tourists from busses keep elevators busy for long stretches of time. Minor things, though, considering the pluses. The plumbing made a lot of noise! And the Robson blockage for a couple of blocks makes getting to the hotel a bit inconvenient. It's all good. Although the room was comfortable and quite clean, it was a bit 'dingy' especially in the bathroom. Updating would make a big difference. Also there wasn't an easily accessible wall power point near the desk. Gym needs to be updated; the equipment is old and in disrepair. Heat/Cooling system a challenge to find comfortable setting (time of year contributes to this). Balcony's are connected so perhaps an improved locking mechanism is needed for sliding door. Upon arrival there was an awful lingering smell in our room that only hours of leaving the balcony door open with blowing winds could fix. I also found that some of the furniture and washroom was very out dated and didnt fit the "luxury" of the rest of the hotel. Bathroom cabinet, countertop and sink faucet outdated and water from faucet difficult to adjust. TV reception could be better. Paid movie did not match up with audio. Nothing. 10 min by foot further west of the main batch of downtown hotels; my room (3809) had minor maintenance issues (malfunctioning bedside light switch). Rooms hasn't been upgrade for thirty years, but for the money... I shouldn't complain. Cloud 9 has absolutely the worst food of the whole West End"! Probably the worst in the city of Vancouver. To Cloud 9's Managers & Kitchen Manager/Chief: Shame on you!! How dare you serve such lousy food to your customers.
