I find all hotel prices excessive for what amounts to a 12 hour stay. There is a current effort to recover the Grand Prix for Montreal. The news reports have it that the city gets $100's of millions for the week with hoteliers getting $500 per night. This greed translates into fhe prices all hotels charge for the rest of the year. - Clean..nice ... what people say » place to stay

Small, but cozy and quiet. Steps were no problem. A/C is quiet. We took their package deal for one day only. It included 2 breakfasts and dinners with a bottle of wine @ Restaurant 1640 downstairs and 1 day paid parking. What a great deal! Food is delicious and service is outstanding. Information center is next door. We definitely will stay there on our next trip.

The pictures it presents online showing its grandeur do not truely do it justice as in 'real life' it excels expectations. Of course, since it's a historical building (like much of Quebec City) building codes prevent the addition of elevators, so this is par for the course. Beautifully reno'd room and bathroom, though the ceiling was a bit low due to the angle of the roof. Close to lots of nearby shopping and restaurants in the old city (and the lower old city, too, which was a bit cheaper).
