Quebec is such a lovely old city, and staying in this charming B&B complemented the old-world atmosphere perfectly! Stepping inside the hotel, and on into the room, is like taking a step back in time, only with all modern-day comforts provided. The history of the building, told to us by the very kind owners, is really fascinating, and our hosts were very helpful and welcoming. all reviews » Hotel is small, more a B&B. Charming old house dating back to 1800's. Filled with Victoriana. Room was quite small with small bathroom, t.v., etc. But furnishings really interesting. Everything spotlessly clean and room comfortable. Very good and ample continental breakfast. Location very good for Dufferin Terrace, rue St. Louis and shops, restaurants, etc. They recommended Cafe de la Paix, 5 minutes' walk, very good. Language no problem. Parking is offsite, 2-minute walk away. Loved the history behind the hotel. The fixtures in the room complimented the history of the building. Even-though some comforts were modernized, (bathroom, bed etc) they blended into the historic decor of the room! The staff went beyond accommodating and friendly, I want to return to Quebec City with my family and would be disappointed if we could not stay at the Cap Diamant!. i totally enjoyed my stay here. i felt like i was travelling back in the Victorian time. It was on the 3rd floor of the house next door to the main hotel. Climbing the carpeted stairs to the room just added to charm of the hotel. It is a great location with equal walking distance to the waterfront and the Grand Allee with its sidewalk patios, the Plains of Abraham and the art museum. It was a short taxi ride from the train station and we did not need a car at all. It is only a couple of streets away from the action which makes it very quiet at night for sleeping-perfect!. Everything was wonderful. The hotel was charming and filled with antiques. The staff was gracious and attentive. The location was perfect....away from the crowds yet just around the corner from the hub of activity. Last time we visited Quebec City we stayed at the Frontenac. I prefer Cap Diamant and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Everything about this small elegant hotel was perfect! It's 2 blocks from the heart of the Old City with restaurants and shopping, and sits just below the Citadel and Plains of Abraham. Run by the same family for 4 generations, the decor is very french, rooms large, clean and comfortable, and continental breakfast quite substantial. Everything about this hotel was superb. The only caveat is for those who do not like or cannot handle steep steps. THere is, however, a lift avaiable for the luggage (not for people). The proximity to the old city meant we could walk everywhere. The staff were so helpful and gracious, giving us helpful hints on where to go and directions. We had a room on the top floor and really loved the view, the large room, and the Victorian furniture. They helped my fiance plan a surprise for me with champagne in the room- very kind of their staff. This is our 2nd. stay at this B & B. I hoped for great coffee and fresh croissants, and maybe a slice of fresh cheese. The pastries were packaged and very ordinary; the cheese was also packaged (the laughing cow!) and the coffee was ordinary. The very steep stairs which when we booked did not know about! They had an elevator for the luggage!!! We were on the top (2nd) floor up 2 flights of very steep stairs. Anyone with breath problems take note. Too many stairs, room was in building next door, with 15 steps up to second floor. Rather fearful of falling. Hotel was small, so probably not a good selection of room location. The bathroom was a little on the small side. The fact that my husband is handicapped made second floor accommodations difficult. They did notify us via e-mail, but we had already left on our trip and did not get it in time to make other plans. Bathroom is small and a little cramped especially for a larger person.
