The Chimo Hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. We were in Ottawa to attend our grand daughter's hockey tournament. The staff seemed to put us on a floor that didn't have hockey groups on the same floor. Therefore it was quiet at night for sleeping. We had a family emergency and had to leave early The hotel were very understanding and did not hold us to the 4 night that we had booked. Thank You Chimo.
all reviews » Upon check in, we were served by a fella who was covering a break. He had several lines ringing, and 3 check ins in front of him. He did a wonderful job in spite of these obstacles. He was very apologetic! Obviously experienced at multi tasking and serving the public. Well done!. Close to city of Ottawa, friendly staff, good facilities, able to handle large groups and small efficiently. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the staff in the restaurant so incredibly professional. The room was always spotless. Desk staff was incredibly helpful. Every staff member we met was polite friendly and helpful. Breakfast in Clancy's was made even more enjoyable by the wait staff. We have stayed there 3 times for girls hockey tournaments and it surprises me every time how nice an quiet it is. Great experience every time. Location was perfect - just across the road from a shopping centre & bus station with direct route into the centre of Ottawa so we did not have to drive into the city.Receptionist was very friendly & arranged for our room to be upgraded to a king room. Excellent hotel the price was right and it was just as nice as bigger named hotels like the delta, weston, and the hilton I have stayed in all of these and the chimo was just as nice at half the price I highley recommend. I was in town with my elderly mother for a funeral. The front desk changed our rooms to be second floor and close to the elevator for convenience. The location is good. It was clean and comfortable!. Everything!!! A very nice hotel with confortable rooms, very nice and big rooms, nice pool with warm water. Very nice screen in lobby with tourist information. So it is a very very nice hotle. Room was a good size and loved that The Lone Star was right beside it which made for a great dinner. The breakfast in the hotel was good as well. gazebo friendly waitors,waitress at lounge,and cleaning staff close to my favourite mall, & walmart cab outside all the time. The food and service in the restaurant were excellent. We hope this continues when Holiday completes their renovations. always like staying at Chimo Hotel.....close to everything and easy to get to from the highway! Comfortable, relaxing. There was a comfortable bed, microwave, fridge, television and writing desk. We received an upgrade which was nice. Great location. Nice and clean. Ample parking. Forgot razor and front desk supplied a complimentary one. The fact that I left my purse in drawer in room and it was returned to me intact and quickly...thank you. We were happy with the room and its cleanliness. The dining room for breakfast was excellent. Had a good stay, and prefer to stay at this hotel when in Ottawa, based on the location. I think that the chef could maybe could do a bit better job of quality control. It may have been because of the amount of people staying at the hotel but I did find that the food was often over cooked on the Pub side at dinner time. :(. There were long hairs on the wall of our bathroom as well as the outside of the toilet (around the bottom) was dirty. Parking was a slight problem, more to do with the location than anything. Curtains and bedding could be changed as they are getting threadbare but that really is nothing to complain about as they don"t affect the stay. That it didnt have a hot tub. They don't include breakfast. But everything was so perfect. Thx. The a/c was not working properly and there were not enough plugs near the bed for our cpap machines to sleep. 1 cab driver was upset to take us nearby,to Boston Pizza. Definitely could benefit from installing grab bars in bathrooms, even though this would be quite the expense. nothing. Drain in bathtub was obviously clogged. When you showered you ended up standing in inches of water. Coffee maker located on a table nowhere next to an outlet, so it had to be moved/plugged into a different one. Pop machine on floor we were on only took quarters (staff had attached a sign on the machine). WE did not like the food in the pub. We would prefer the dining room remain open for dinner during the evening.The pub itself was comfortable and quite pleasant. Hall way carpeting was not appealing as it was terribly stained in many areas of the 2nd floor we were on. We were woken up twice once at 4AM and another at 10:30 AM the next morning because of a false fire alarm. Very dirty elevators. The room wasn't bad, but the bathroom lacked a fan, had stains on the ceiling and the bottom of the tub did not seem very clean. I booked a room for four days but only stayed 3 days and was charged for the fourth day regardless ,. Old carpet in the elevator and in the corridor. restaurant was OK nothing special. Could use an update-the Bathroom grout and around the tub had black mould -Room decore seems tired. could use a update, newer carpets, fresh paint. Lack of room service. The wireless internet wasn't working most of the time. I called the front desk and got an Ethernet cable and then had a decent internet connection. Room was noisy because of adjoining door to next room. none. the view from my window. Bar manager was less than friendly and bar closes at 10:00. Carpet was stained. They did not have 2 rooms booked as per my reservation. no pen or paper in room,no handrail in tub. none. There were no ''Do not disturb'' sign in the room. restaurant closed at 1030 am. Always seems to be a lot of young people staying there & music noise from the road house next door.
