The major plus point for this hotel is the location. The hotel itself is not bad but does need updating and redecorating. Upon arrival we had to park the car and this could have been a bit of a problem as there are not many spaces for a hotel of this size. Luckily we found the one remaining space and left the car there for 2 nights at $15 plus tax per night. Ok so the price is in line with other public car parks but as a guest of the hotel it could have been free in line with other hotels. Our .
all reviews » The location is unbeatable; Capital Hill forms an unlikely trio with Fairmount Chateau Laurier and The Elgin Hotel in giving you prime access to the centre of Ottawa, two blocks from Parliament etc. The room, while basic, had all the amenities and was cleaned to a high standard every day. The price is excellent compared to similarly positioned hotels. If you pay 50$ per person, per night as we did, you cannot expect this hotel to be of a standard found at Laurier or Elgin or any high-hotels!!!. 1. The hotel is centrally located. Its location is perfect walking distance from all the major attractions of the city. I had my parents with me and walking over to the parliament or the supreme court was easy. 2. The rooms with the extra Kitchen space. 3. The only hotel I could find that allowed 4 adults along with kids in one room. That saves huge on the cost and makes it budget friendly. 4. The rooms are clean and well kept. I like the fact that this hotel is centrally located and the staff are very nice and helpful. I originally booked a room that was too small and they upgraded my room to much larger room at a minimum cost per night. We stayed in room 1804 and had a great view of the mountain. It was also very quiet and the beds were comfortable. The kitchenette was fantastic and met our needs and save us some money on food. Large, well laid-out suites at an excellent location for touring the Ottawa/Gatineau area with Ottawa Transit stop across the street ! Having said this, we were only 2 blocks from Parliament Hill etc and within short walking distance (10-15 min.)of most other attractions, incl. Rideau Mall !! great hotel, fantastic staff, super location, reasonable price .....highly recommend !!!!. I only stayed for 1 night with a group of friends and we all really enjoyed it, especially the fact that it had a flat screen TV and the room rate was 109 for the day, that is rare for a room that houses four. The rooms were clean ..Staff were great and answered all my questions.....i had a problem with grit getting on my car and Jonathan the manager took me to 2 different car wash to get the problem solved... It is a very beautiful city & Capital Hill Hotel & Suites is in the perfect location for easy walking to all the cities beautiful historic sites. The suites are ideally situated & having the kitchen area was great. A small supermarket is only minutes away. Ask at the front counter - they are very helpful. We liked the location to Capital Hill, within walking distance to the Rideau Mall. Hotel room very clean but some of the fixtures were a little dated. Very quiet although we were across from the elevator. If we went to this area again we would stay at the same hotel if we got the great rate. The room was a good size for 3 adults and 1 small child. There was a small seating area with couch and chairs in addition to the 2 beds. It was clean and well situated. There weren't enough towels when we arrived but this was quickly remedied after a call to reception. Very convenient close to the Embassy of the Netherlands (700 meter walk). We had a suite which might have been slightly outdated but nevertheless was great. The kids loved the private balcony. Definately a budget friendly hotel. The location was excellent. The paid parking not included in the cost and to add to that the parking gets full pretty soon and then you have to park in another building and every time you take your car out you have to pay. That makes it even more costlier. This hotel could easily be a 4.5 star if they would fix their water woes. We stayed on the 18th floor and the water kept backing up inthe tub whenever we took a shower. The kitchen faucet is also out of control. During our stay I realize that this was a common problem and didn't even bother to complain to the front desk. No dinner available @ restaurant but then again, most guests would be out & about site-seeing etc at this time. Nothing at all. -. Limited parking spaces, we didn't want to loose our spot so we walked everywhere. We had difficulty finding the parking lot as we were not sure of the signage of the lot, as it was around the block from the hotel entrance. The window unit for the air-conditioning was quite noisy. Parking is indeed possible but very very tight. Keys needed to be left at frontdesk as they had to move cars around. The elevators were very slow (and there were only 2 elevators). The room smelled musty and the bathroom door stuck. Parking was tight. We booked a 2 bedroom suite and this consisted of 1 bedroom with 2 double beds and a make up couch in the living room. Fortunately we did not need to have 2 people sleep on it as it would have been impossible, du to the size and condition. They also need to provide more bedding for this purpose as they know in advance the number of guests. It would have been better if offering free breakfast. The hotel has obviously been there for a while, it is an older building, but it is clean and well maintained. The step at the front entrance onto the sidewalk is dangerous. I stumbled down it, but a friend who visited us at the hotel actually fell down from the step, not realizing it was there and hurt himself. You should have a railing along most of that "terrace" with a bannister leading up to the door. Cost would balance out the lawsuits. There was no restaurant within the hotel. The exercise equipment was not kept up and didn't work(exercise bike). Parking is cramped and over-crowded but valets do a good job of accessing vehicles in short order. Continental breakfast not included in room charge. There is no complimentary breakfast. Bathroom a bit dated and elevators were extremely slow, and only two of them. 120 or so rooms but parking for 30 at best. Decore is a little dated but nostalgic. Check in and out is a tad slow but not outragious. I was charged parking fees without being asked first if I had parked in their tiny lot and thus had to have the fees refunded which added to the checkout time. The bathroom sink was cracked, and outdated as is much of the hotel. Wanted a kitchenette but those rooms offered a crappy view and no balcony. I am a little edgy about the parking, too many cars in too small of a space,worried about it getting damaged.. Temperature of water - lukewarm most of the time, and cold on the evening of May 16, 2013. Noisy - sound travels through ductwork, and conversations from other rooms were audible. Elevator was adjacent to room, and could be heard. The interior was quite dated, however for the cost of the room it was not really an issue. Would've been nice to have a small fridge in the room. Internet didn't work in the room (too far from base-station); it worked fine in the hall. The on-site parking was full, but the hotel offered secure parking around the corner for the same cost. Nothing. The hotel met all our needs. Just a few things -- traffic noise from buses quite loud if window open even a bit, pull out couch mattress comfy but way too short for adults (I'm 5'4", and my feet were hanging over). No fridge or kettle in room for week long stay Parking limitations. Everything was good. Beds could have been a little more comfortable but they were certainly more than adequate. Shower was quite low (1m80). Dated carpets, counters, and decor. Slow elevator. But the positives far outweigh the negatives. Great stay. Will recommend. Elevator machinery noise, inefficient flush on toilet. To be kind,The gym was lacking. Parking is a nightmare - thanks to your desk staff, they willingly parked car, which was very helpful. The rooms were on the small side, one bed one chair and not a lot of movement room. dacore on floor and in wall way old and woren. need to brigthen up... I found it a little dated & older. there was a odour on the floor i was staying at when you came out of the elevator, not sure what it was, but couldn't smell it in the room. Lack of in and out ability once parked.
