The Hotel de L'Institut exceeded my expectations. The staff was friendly, the hotel room updated, clean and had the bonus of a balcony with an outdoor table and chair and a view of Montreal. The breakfast was a very good value especially considering the price of the hotel. It was a full sit down breakfast with menu choice unlike most hotels who only have packaged muffins for their 'free' breakfast.

We reached much before the 3pm check-in time, however we were allowed to check-in to our room immeditaely - we didn't even have to ask for it! Service is absolutely amazing. The entire facility was immaculate and quiet, the staff was veryinformative and friendly, conveniently located, huge room size withbreathe taking view on the balcony and lots of very hot water.Everything. Staff were very efficient and friendly. The hotel was very clean and the food excellent. The location was ideal. A great experience. Will definetly stay there again. No room service ... understandable in the price category. Limited wireless reception on the top floor, I had to use my laptop in the bathroom ;-) ... but,there is a computer for public use in the lobby. I find the lighting in the rooms and bathrooms to be inadequate andwould prefer a stronger light, particularly in the bathroom.Beginning to show signs of age. Could use a little updating. Rooms are quite small. Menus in English would have been helpful. Their outrageous parking fee, which cancels any savings as compared to similar quality hotels in the area.They should upgrade the quality of bedding. Everything was ok. the carpet should be check for stains and spilloffs that other guest may have had previous to our stay. I think the hotel should have more than one computer available for guests. I had to wait to use it and on two occasions had to cut my online time short because others were waiting to use the computer. I went online a few times but was not online for extended periods.No, the whole experience was adequet but the rooms where slightly outdated. We were not told of the free internet availability upon check in. Thiswould have been useful for us to have known.the cleaning staff only spoke french so when my medication was lost/sent to laundry is was impossible to ask them what happened. I think it was unacceptable that the hotel charges you to park in their parking garage under the hotel. It was $19 a day!!!!! That would be one reason I would not stay at that hotel again. So in essence the cost of the hotel is not $115 it is $134 a night.I did not like where the room was located; right across from the noisy elevator. Telephone operator was really horrible that she did not follow myrequest several times when I ask international phone connection and sheshut off my phone call later on. I was then really problem to talkbusiness issue to overseas.

Travelling information

By Car (from Pierre-Élliot-Trudeau Airport):
- Take Autoroute 20 east, then Autoroute Ville-Marie to the Saint-Laurent, Berri exit.
- Drive a few metres on the service road and turn left onto Rue Berri.
- Drive north to Rue Cherrier, then turn left. At the first traffic light, turn left again onto Rue Saint-Denis, then again onto the next street (de Malines).
- Drive a few metres to the hotel parking entrance. Please note that the parking lot door opens automatically when a vehicle approaches.
