I greatly appreciated your agent's efforts to change my reservation at the last minute when I realized I had reserved the wrong day; and nicole at the hotel for approving the change with no charge. Both very much appreciated. Brilliant location, the room was lovely with a balcony and view of the mountains. Good service from reception who sent up extra tea and coffee as requested.
all reviews » Amethyst Lodge is very typical of the style of accommodation in Jasper and is in a great location with close proximity to shops and restaurants. . Incredible view, excellent location, clean, very friendly and helpful staff, reasonably priced for its location and room quality. excellent location, easy walking distance to Jasper town and supermarket, and my room had a view of the mountains. The convenience of being walking distance to everything. It is disability friendly with ramps and elevators. The room was great. Anthony's restaurant was excellent. Staff friendly and efficient. Great location. It was a very pleasant but short stay. I will return & be happy to stay at this hotel. The staff were amazing, always made sure they fixed your problems right away. older Hotel but very very clean and well maintained.cheaper than others. the price and closeness to shops and availability using hotel . com. My clumsyness at booking the wrong date :). The restaurant and bar were very quiet with hardly any one in them so we did not use them for this reason. We had a ground floor room and I would have preferred an upper floor with a view. Ours was of the car park. The room is a bit dated and could use an upgrade. Limited parking. Would have been nice to have a cheap option for breakfast available through the hotel. All was good. The rooms seemed a little cramped and small but it was doable. restaurant attached overpriced,. No washing machine so not totally practical. Sound travelled through the walls. Doesn't have a fridge. Old - sinks need replacing, elevator needs replacing - parking is at a minimum. Sound isolation from street not good. Very small bathroom. I think a bit overpriced for what you get in return, if I compare with similar stays at different places in the Rockies. Buffet in restaurant is too expensive. Breakfast service rather slow. the trees that are planted in the middle of the street and along the railyard take away the charm of the town. they are also A hazard when crossing the street. the trees add nothing to the town but take away the beauty of the town. this makes my 8th visit to the town of jasper. this year the visit was not the same due to the trees. I was planning on returning in 2014, but now not sure. We stayed in room 220 which was above the hot tubs. The room had a constant deep hum which we assumed was from the hot tub or the ice/ vending machine. Cigarette burn in duvet cover. Double beds were small. Bathroom needs refurbishing, ie chipped and stained sink. Main train track opposite hotel. In fairness all hotels in Jasper are across from the rail track. Goods train run all day and night but very slowly. You can hear the Diesel engines but thankfully they don't sound there horns! On site restaurant v expensive. Much cheaper along the street. Layout of hotel and aging decor. Parking seems to be an issue. If there is not enough room in the small parking lots you have to park on the street. Lack of air conditioning. Second time in two years staying at this hotel. Both times lost power to the bathroom in the morning. The hotel staff said they would notify someone but we decided to leave after a long wait time. No compensation was offered. Downstairs room was quite dark and dingy. Looked to be a number of "wings" to the hotel and some may be better than others. bathroom facilities in the room were in poor shape. Very close to rail station and if open the window at night is noisy. Locking my keys in the trunk!. Price was a little bit high, I think, compared to some other hotel. But the other were not available in letsbookhotel.com. tiered property, room smelled like stale cigarette smoke. Carpet needed to be cleaned No fan or window in bathroom. The overall cleanliness of the room was very average. Stains on the carpet, mould in the shower. Also walls are paper thin. Glad was only there for one night. -balcony door did not latch shut. Had to push door real hard to engage thumb lock -the was mold in the tub area -sink smelt very musty -towel bars and toilet paper dispenser were half pulled out of the wall. -Ate in the lounge the first night. Had the burger, it was awful. Did not eat there again -noise from outside balcony door was not blocked in any way. You could hear conversations taking place outside on upper or lower decks. Ac was broken Shower didn't drain Beds were hard as rocks. Desk staff was less than proffessional. Hotel is very dated, definetly not what the web site presented. Bed was very poor quality, leaving both of us with sore backs. No place to plug in the coffee maker or the kettle. Breakfast in dining room was grossly overpriced for what was presented. Sorry, will not be back again.
