First impression was disappointment, but once inside the decor was traditional log cabin with a modern twist, the welcome at reception was warm & informative. Our cabin was very comfortable, warm & peaceful. The evening meal & continental breakfast were delicious, immaculately served by the friendly English owners. The salmon leap & Helmcken Falls are sights not to be missed. Should have booked for longer!.
all reviews » I actually booked this lodge thinking it was close to the highway through Clearwater, but turned out it was 34km off the track. However, it is a lovely spot, and the wonderful chalet room we had with a verandah more than compensated fir the short detour. A real find. Friendly and well informed management. Good value for money and well positioned to enjoy the magnifient Dawson and Helmcken Falls and other leisire activities. Substantial continental breakfast available. Quiet and comfortable. Owner very helpful when our suitcase combination failed to operate. Good evening meal. - surroundings (Wells Gray National Park is worth travelling) - Helmcken Falls Lodge is a great place to stay. Is situated directly in the Wells Gray National Park, beautifull surroundings, in the middle of nature. the atmosphere - the friendly Family our room was great inside a park but far from other villages. Remote. Cosy cabin built in 1922 in great location. Our favourite 'room' of our 22 day trip. We had a very nice and romantic cottage and enjoyed our stay in the nature tremendously. Really great staff, picturesque, close to the Falls, rustic country feel. Very friendly staff. Great food. Excellent location Beautiful scenery. A very nice location, the facilities we had were slightly underdone- in that there is no fridge and no tv- however this is what you go for in this style if accommodation. Nothing apart from the extra 80 miles or so from Clearwater added onto our journey. Nothing to dislike, although much further from Clearwater than expected.. The room was full of mosquitoes (there are lots of them also in the national park), it was hard to get rid of all of them. Internet connection is rather poor and you have to pay extra for it. It was the only place in Canada we stayed in that didnt have free wifi. no idea!. Remote. No other restaurants or other facilities nearby. Stayed on lower floor of 12 unit complex and with no sound proofing the people above us sounded like elephants when they walked. Wifi only worked in main building not in room. Beds very firm - a bit too hard. My bed was too small for my wife and I to sleep comfortably and it was hard. Improvement is needed regarding signage from main highway and accurate mileage from highway. no free wifi. rooms are too expensive, beds are like wooden planks and the badroom is very poor and old if you pay $200 per night. no lunch, poor signage. We had a 50% off promo. So excellent value. Would not want to pay full price. that it is quite a distance out of Clearwater no television mobile phones did not work (no signal). Continental breakfast way over priced. Not a great deal of sound buffer between cabins. We could hear people turning in their beds on floor above. The pictures they showed on listing was not the building with the our room. Room was still clean, but the beds in our room where not comfortable and both squeaked. No fridge, kettle, or television. Wifi was down. Over priced. No refrigerator in room. No free internet, 6 dollars per day. Internet was free in all other hotels and Motels across Canada during our 6 weeks holiday. Unfortunately beds were very hard, not too comfortable. Breakfast was not included and expensive for the choice of food. Wanted just off hwy. It is so far off the hwy and signage was very very poor..
