The location was fabulous and the Lodge was great. We stayed in a loft with kitchenette and the views from the balcony were amazing. The bar was good and the food was nice, the accommodations were comfortable and quiet. Underground car park was great and included in price. Banff is stunning, go there, you have to experience it once in your lifetime!. Swift response from staff when the toilet needed attention. Indoor parking with easy access to room by elevator. Good restaurant, open quite late even mid-week. Mid-week rates very good value. Cosy, comfortable lobby. Very large bedroom room and bathroom, both very comfortable. Excellent king bed with two night tables--a big plus.
all reviews » During the entire evening of my stay in Banff there was a power outage in the city following the Alberta floods. The hotel's response to this situation, by way of a lit fireplace in the lobby, presence of extended staff, help with carrying luggage up the stairs and generator lighting in the passageways was noteworthy. Very cozy spot! The rooms were really nice and unique and the pool was nice. Staff was so amazing! There was a British man working the front desk that was very friendly and helpful. It was the kind of staff that said hello in the hall.. Which is always very welcoming. Great little spot!!. The receptionist was super nice, informative and helpful. The restaurant was great. The waitress super nice and especially great with young kids. Sorry cant remember name but she was Australian. The indoor pool was very welcome after days skiing. The room was kept very clean. The Loft room we had for 3 nights was a good size,bed was very comfortable. The full sized bathroom including bath was first class The Lodge offered bicycles which we used daily and they were the prefect mode of transport to visit Banff and surrounds. Homey, welcoming atmosphere, nice rooms with high ceilings made them feel more spacious. Refrigerator in room was nice and they offered free use of DVDs. Having laundry room on site was nice. Basement parking lot was convenient and uncrowded. Everything, best hotel I ever been...Staff super nice, parking free, internet excellent, indoor swimming pool, took the room with jacuzzi, mmmm luxe.....Been there twice now.....Would go back if I could... Helpful staff requested a kettle for our room and think the guy must have run all the way he delivered it so fast. We did not eat in the hotel but the dining room and lounge looked good. Loved the big comfortable beds, the spa jacuzzi bath and the fireplace ! Staff is always friendly and very helpful with suggestions for places to dine. Always give us winners !. The rates were very reasonable compared to many in Banff – we were expecting much less, and were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the property. We've been there 4 times, we like staying there. Breakfast was pricey and very average, I would suggest you go out. No full-length mirror anywhere in the bedroom or bathroom--doesn't have to be fancy--but a necessity in today's hotel market. Limited amount of tourist info available unless I missed seeing it somewhere. Getting out of the garage involved a very sharp right turn, not easy when driving an unfamiliar rental car. No safe. Somewhat pricey, but we stayed in August which is peak summer holidays. Feeling stranded during the flooding! But if you have to be stranded, it was a good place to be. A little out of town did not bother us because we can walk ok and like the stroll but maybe a bit far for some. My only complaint was the hot tub was freezing downstairs so we only used that facility once. The pool and hot tub could both use an upgrade. The only issue I have is the fire smoke which was in the (heavy) hall and room. Since we are very senstiive to smoke and ashtmatic to any smoke it made it somewhat difficult. It seemed that smoke was coming from room central air which probably has inlet too close to a chimney and back draftes smoke.Overcame issue by having fire on in room and allowing draft to take smoke out of room through fire draft. Restaurant at breakfast time seemd a bit chaotic. Not particularly friendly welcome. The reading lights above the bed were too low and got in the way. We had no idea that we would have to pay so much to drive into the Park. Buffet breakfast we thought was a little ordinary. The restaurant, the food is not good and the service as well. the walk from the hotel to the main strip of Banff was a bit too far away. The room was very nice although I did not like not having an outside view. Quite a few of the rooms I believe have a pool view which makes the room quite dark and although there is air conditioning I do like to have the window open in the evening to let the fresh air in. Other than that it was a lovely stay. Underground Parking entrance/exit is weird and not well designed. Hard to turn when exit. I thought the check-in time was a bit late and that the check-out time was a bit early. - It is a little far from downtown central area by walking. Bit out of town. Restaurant for breakfast was only open until 10 and it was a bit far to walk from the banff shopping. Nothing. The restaurant was poor and we ended up eating elsewhere.The quality was the problem and was not value for money. Dinner options were a little limited. After a day of hiking in the snow we would have loved to see a soup option on the menu. Expensive but you get what you pay for. Coffee/tea from the brewer in the room was not very good. Better to go down to the hotel restaurant or even the free coffee from the lobby. Fireplace did not work. had to climb stairs during night if bathroom was needed. in spa tub room no toaster available. Unable to close curtains on top that let light in and woke us up each morning. There was a noise from somewhere in the night, which was annoying. Parking on the street in front of the hotel was. Limited to 2 hours. Wash basin outside of the bath room. Restaurant refused to seat us for dinner claiming to be full when there was an entire section that was empty. Breakfast buffet closed early. Renovations could be heard.
