Served me well for my perhaps niche circumstances: visa run, previously visited Phnom Penh, staying for a week while working, experienced (or crazy) enough driving motorbikes in SE Asia to rent one in PP. The hotel is very clean and has a lot of natural light, the rooftop bar and balconies are great, and the area is a relatively quiet escape from the tourist bustle of the quay. However, I wouldn't say it is an outstanding value for SE Asia on accommodations alone. Also, for a first-time visito.
all reviews » Memorable stay, wonderful care from staff, and best location. Staff are wonderful; they always ask us to make sure we have everything we need. During our stay, they surprisingly arranged a small birthday cake and flower in my room. We were provided with a free cocktail coupon at their sky bar. Room is clean, nice and open with great view from our balcony and outdoor seating. Breakfast is great with helpful staff who are always ready to give us a hand. I would recommended to others both leisure . This hotel is really nice for the price you only pay for it. The staff is friendly and gives you all the information you need to continue your trip our to visit things, the food is nice, the rooms are clean and the Skybar is really great to relax and just enjoy a stunning view over Phnom Penh. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. Nice room with balcony (8th floor), superb view from the magnificent skybar over the city, delicious breakfast, quick transportation to the city and surroundings. A wonderful hotel. Geert and Els. Very helpfull staff and owners. When they heared that my passport was stolen in Phnom Penh, they did everything to help me out of that annoying situation. In the evening you just don't feel safe in the city, we (two women) walked around in the evening but felt so unsafe we decided to go back to the hotel, afterwards we spoke to the staff and they confirmed us that it really is not very safe in the city. Really bad point (but not about the hotel): the Royal Palace closes very early and nobody seems to know when exactly, it feels like they close when they are in the mood to close it. Absolutely nothing not to like with regards to the hotel!. The hotel was a little bit far from the center. They ordered a taxi for us to Siem Reap without asking and when we went to the reception to ask for bus tickets they said there are no tickets and anyway they ordered us a taxi. I don't know when they wanted to tell us.. It turned out we were lucky to have a taxi, but I didn't like the way they told us. The location was not very good, a bit far from everything. The breakfast could have been better, they didn't fill the food in the buffet very often, so most of the staff was missing. Charge a lot for booking bus tickets; Location is okay but still far from Grand Palace and other places of interests. Not the best location, but easy to get a tuk tuk. need more variety food for breakfast. No gym. hotel is very noisy. also, the food in the rooftop-bar is not that good. breakfast was ok but they stopped with refilling the buffet very early. nothing actually. Steep stairs. A bit far from the riverfront (but a tuktuk can easily take you there). Room service is not available in the night. The service was rough around the edges and could be polished. Bed was hard, pillows were not comfortable. Safe was right next to the door and was light enough to be easily carried - not safe enough for use. Breakfast was average. To be honest, it is very noisy. From outside, as well as from inside. But otherwise good value. Breakfast reasonable ... Overall three stars instead of four. Very bad signal of wifi in the rooms, breakfast very poor (especially if you come around 9am, there is nothing left), towels not clean enough. breakfast was average, location was in the financial district far away for the happening night scene, the toilet was leaking but they fixed it. It is not a 4 star hotel; location is a bit remote; renovation has not been yet completed - one wall was not painted:).
