  New Hostel only opened 5 months before so facilities are pristine condition. Stylish design, Staff wear casual but 'branded' tops. This is a classy joint in the 'cultural' area, don't be fooled by the aged outside appearance..the inside is superb. I also participated in the two free bbq nights during my stay and on two nights the guests were given... what people say » 2 hr 'happy hours' with free caiphirinia's ...awesome! Great atmosphere, pool table, internet, sundeck, library..The best Hostel I've ever stayed in - Supercool hostel with really nice staff. We were two people staying there for 9 nights. We met awesome people and had a really great time. May be the best location you could get during the carnival! Easy to get to Copacabana and Ipanema Beach. The design there is also really cool! We really liked that it has pool table, bar, kitchen, barbeque area and always free toilets and showers. We´re def. Going back!

  Pontal has an excellent location on the beach! Don't try and go to Rio centro from here. Just relax in a hammock and go for a swim or walk to the nearest (beautifull an quiet) beach. You can drink and eat in the garden (just move tables etc.). Rooms are fine and some with a view. Stay a few nights to recover from Rio! Have the best acai (with the ... what people say » locals) in town near poste 12:-). - It just in front of the ocean. A paradise for the surfers. Guys in the hostel lend you a board for a good price. Hammocks in the hostel are great. Kitchen is available to cook your stuff. Also you can order some food (price is higher than in the restaurants outside, but it is worth if you are lazy). Good experience, I'll suggest it to the friends. Good luck and have a good surf!

  The theme of Refúgio is rustic and tasteful. I love this area of Rio and was pleased to learn that a budget-friendly, clean, comfortable and modern hostel has opened here!
