We stayed here for a week and we had a wonderful time. The hotel looks old but our room was nice and clean. You should know that most of the hotels in Rio are old .the staff were friendly and helpful. But the best part is the location , it's in one of the best part of rio which leblon shops and restaurant are in walking distance. The hotel has a small but great pool with the most beautiful view in the world and the ipanema beach is just in front of the hotel . Overall we had a great stay with n.

Additionally there was always someone on duty who spoke very good English! Location on Impenama Beach was perfect although it has less "nightlife" than the popular Cococabana Beach. Impanema Beach is a much prettier beach & we were never concerned about safety. Clean hotel, nice location on the beach in Ipanema. Good value for the money compared to similar hotels. The beach (between Post 10 and 11) in front of the hotel with chairs and parasol is very relaxing, large and spacious, the best in Rio, with kind people trying to sell you bikinis, sunglasses, hamacs,... ! Just sometimes at breakfast we had to wait for food that were finished to be filled back.the stuff were little confused at this time as it was busy. The cleaning staff did not always clean the floor well enough to get rid of all the sand or replace the beach towels. When you look closely, this hotel was lacking in a few areas. Of the seven nights we stayed there, we only had internet access for one night! There were periodic problems with the elevator. Although at first glance, the beachfront area appears very nice, be aware that it is located next to a channel that needs to have tons of sand cleared out of it every day. Workers use noisy, heavy-duty equipment a few hours each day - quite a distraction and an eyesore!. The hotel is looking a bit jaded and needs a facelift but the location and sea view balcony do compensate. That there was no kettle in the room to boil water for drinking. That my balcony door had no latch to shut it. Nothing!. The pool staff is slow and unorganized. no free wifi, hotel not new, not 4 star hotel service, only 1 lift was working. Not much, however they are currently upgrading the lifts and the one in operation's shuddering when starting and stopping can be a little scary. Having to pay for WiFi is also annoying. We didn't care for the decor of the room, it's quite plain for the money we pay per night. Noisy first night due to scaffolding being cleared during the night. Booked a "master deluxe room" but it seemed a standard room to us. Some facilities were under renovation during my stay and the wifi was slow. The noise from the road along the foreshore was a bit of a problem for sleeping. We had to use earplugs at night. maintenance with the elevators, back door for swimmers is disgusting, to charge for internet was unnecessary considering the amount of room costs.. Pricy. we could not use the pool area upstairs because of the private party, one of the elevators was broken. The room, specially the wc, demands a little improvement. We requested a non-smoking room which we did receive, however, the smoke from the adjacent room came through the adjoining door filling our room with smoke and making it unbearable. Non-smoking rooms should be loacted on a separate floor. Price is too high for a hotel that is not luxurious and sometime quite hold. Price. The food was terrible I live in Brasil. my 9 year old daughter had to return one meal. Mine was bad but I ate it. hotel elevator was being renovated which caused delays to use. only one elevator. Parts of decor in need of repair Had to change rooms because of booking mix up. They had not allocated us a room with a double bed and the beds in the twin room were far too small. The building is old. Elevators are few and noisy. Elevators dont seem safe. Just more luxury. Mould in The bathroom tiles. The floor needed scrubbing. Bedroom was dated and in need of refurbishment. The hotel Is overpriced. The hotel closed the pool area for clients for 2 days for a prívate event. We could not use the pool. Only one elevator Working. The restaurant Is very expensive compared to the quality of food. Poor trained staff. Too expensive restaurant. For what we payed room very small. Breakfast good. Food very expensive. Somehow old facilities, no free wi-fi and poor internet connection. I booked a non smoking. Room and they put us in a smoking área .a lot of noise from the street and the other guests .the room was poor ,salsa in need of a painting. I don t recommend. overevaluatio(too expensive). The pool pictures really sell the hotel, thats why I booked. Dont expect these standards in the rooms, if you dont expect this you'll be fine, think 1980 beach apartment, all clean and comfortable though.
