The situation of the hotel was fantastic with amazing views particularly overlooking Salzburg with the mountain range as a backdrop. We also loved the food and the flexibility and convenience of being able to order evening meals at a special half board rate when required. The staff and owners were particularly friendly and helpful. Although the location of the hotel was away from the city centre and quite a hike if you walk from the last bus stop it is well worth the effort to get there even if you are without a car. It was a pleasant change from staying in a city and the view of the snowcapped alps from the room added to the experience. all reviews »
Pool excellent - views fantastic and food delightful. Great view, very good breakfast, friendly staff!. the location was the best for a relaxing stay. Separate smoking / gathering room available. Although the rooms did not have individual 'mini bars', there were cool drinks available in the common room using the honor system for payment.The view over Salzburg is terrific. Hotel was quiet and full ofcharacter. Staff were all very helpful and pleasant. Food was excellent. The staff at front desk can speak english and very helpfull, The view of the city , the comfort of having a good resturant at the hotel. The fantastic view of the city from our room, size of the room(big room), very good breakfast, frendly staff, almost 4 stars hotel. The hotel is located up in the hill and i don't recommend this hotel for travellers without car. A bit too pricy. Beds were hard. isolated from the town so it would be nice if hotel can offer airport shuttle and offer to take patrons to downtown. do not call long distance from this hotel, and to make things worst, hotel staff don't know how the rates work.Not that I didn't like, but there are not so many facilities as you have in a 24hour hotel, you have to be conscious about that. It's really a familiar hotel, you feel at home. It's great!. The hotel is on the top of a hill, if the sticky road is snowy, you could go up snowchain only.Inspite of the reviews saying that if you don't have a car its difficult we went on without a car , You need taxis for sure to get out of this hotel and they cost € 10 to the city center which is OK .you can come down the hill to catch a bus but if you would like to walk you can do this and the bus charge €2 to the city center . 2) Food is very expensive. In fact I didn't like the breackfast ,, It wasn't as good as enough.Maybe the taxi costs to get up the mountain..? But it was well worth themoney... :). Restaurant was overpriced for the quality of the food. The view was amazing but spoiled by people smoking all around us. Rooms were old and not very cheerful. Hotel at top of a mountain on a very narrow road, you didn't feel like going to find another restaurant to eat in and are fairly 'stuck' there for dinner. The rooms with 'view of the forest' had a 'view of the parking lot'-ugly.As I didnt have a car of my own, it was difficult indeed for me to walk up from Obergnigl (the nearest bus stop) to the Hotel. Its quite a steep and difficult walk. If you are not traveling by your own vehicle, it might not be the best option for you to stay at this place. - There was no elevator which made it difficult to bring young children up and down stairs. - The pool area was not well maintained and was not child friendly (steep hill at the side of the pool that was not fenced off). I would not recommend this hotel to families with young children or for people with reduced mobility.Accessibility, especially at night; it is very hard to find, to access.The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and on Wensdays, and, for somereason, it was also closed on Monday when we were there. Dogs in rooms !. Lack of air conditioning or a ventilator. The room was not well cleaned. Hotel restaurant was not open every day.The dated furniture and the single beds pushed together to make one. Uncomfortable pillow. The water temperature in the shower kept changing too (although it was a good shower). The breakfast service was quite poor as the food and drinks were not replenished, which meant there was little choice of food and if there was any coffee in the pot it was luke warm. And who likes uncooked eggs?!. Restaurant expensive, tennis court, pool looked as if they had seen better days. The room was tiny with very old furnishings. There was no air con and itwas very hot - difficult to open the windows as the hotel was situatedin a woody area with many flies [got bitten several times].
