Hotels near Hohensalzburg Fortress

This is a really good little hotel. The location couldn't be better, but so was everything else. The rooms were nice - not too overdone. Slightly smallish but smart. The restaurant is absolutely excellent. The art theme works well and the place presents a very different image to the norm. Very impressed! - Alan

Upon arrival we were assigned a room in the annex across the street from the main hotel. We complained and were told we could have a room in the main building if we wished. Upon checking out the room in the annex we decided to stay there. The room there was larger with a spacious sitting area and a large modern bathroom None of the rooms were luxurious but were certainly clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would return again. The location on the main shopping street of the old town is - Margaret

This hotel was came off much better than I anticipated. Although simple and straightforward, the room was spotlessly clean and modern. It is located only a short stroll from the old town and for a great price! There was free internet available as well. The only complaint we had about our stay was the VERY firm bed, but an extra comforter was provided upon request. - Derek

This is the best hotel to stay in when visiting Salzburg. From your arrival at the front door to your departure, the staff could not be more helpful and professional. We felt like royalty for a couple of days. Our room was a junior suite which was beautiful with the most magnificent views of old Salzburg (plus, air conditioning working as it should (if needed)-even though it was September). We stayed in Schloss Monchstein for 5 nights during Christmas.... The location of the hotel is really nice on top of a hill which offers stunning views over Salzburg..the ways to get to the city are either to take the Monchsberg elevator [about 10 min walk from the hotel / costs 3.6 euros return] or walk down to the city [20 / 25 minutes] or take your car [parking is not that easy]. My husband and I both studied abroad for a semester in Salzburg years ago and wanted to relive the experience. Staying at the Hotel Elefant helped to make our trip! It's right off the main shopping street - the Getreidegasse - and in the heart of downtown. You can walk to ANY of the main destinations. stayed at the bristol for 12 nights; had a junior suite which really was a junior suite with 8 windows consisting of a bedroom, livingroom sitting room and hallway. fabulous views of salzburg from my windows plus an excellent buffet breakfast included in the rate made this junior suite a bargain. i had all my dinners at the hotel and never got sick (i have a bad stomach and have to be careful. the food was excellent and well prepared. the bristol is one of the finest hotels i have every stayed a - John

Having visited Salzburg before staying in the Sheraton Hotel (which has a reputation as being the best hotel in the city) I was initially nervous about the Hotel Stein however, such nerves were unnecessary. The Hotel was great and I would not stay anywhere else now in Salzburg. The roof top terrace overlooking the City was stunning, the breakfasts lovely, rooms minimal but stylish and the location was perfect. Would definitely recommend this hotel. - Andrew

Although this hotel was a bit pricey, it was definitely worth being right in the center of the action. The location was excellent. We had a room facing the back--no view, but it was so nice, quiet, and romantic. My parents had a room on the street and said it was a bit noisy at night and early morning, but enjoyed people watching. The staff was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. My husband and I are well travelled, having been from Hong Kong to New York to Sydney....and this was the best hotel experience we had! I would recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to visiting again. When my 3 children recall our stay in Salzburg, they only talk about our 'friends' at the hotel. My husband and I stayed at the Gablerbrau for 2 nights, 3 days. We had excellent service and had a really nice room. It was a medium sized room, with a great bathroom. The bathroom looked like it had been renovated within the last 5 years. The room was really clean and bright. We looked over the restaurant across the street. My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights and were very pleased overall with the hotel. The location was fantastic - walking distance to everything with restaurants and bars and shopping in the same block. The view from our room was also wonderful - we overlooked the river. The room itself was VERY large, the bathroom was HUGE! Not your typical European accommodations from a size perspective. The only complaint we had was that we were located next to a bar and the noise was pretty bad - Julie
