- lady staff was very helpful (helped us to save on transportation cost to airport and identify a good Irish pub for my husband) - hotel was right beside the bus stop, just a few minutes walk to Central station, right along the free Sydney shuttle tourist bus, very near supermarket, shops, budget restaurants; basically near Sydney attractions! - our family room was sufficient in size, clean beddings and bathroom. - free wi-fi - I really got value for money in this hotel.
all reviews » Staff were great. Very helpful. Rooms were basic but all you need was there.close to convenience stores and there's a nice thai restaurant across. A bit far from circular quay but next to free shuttle bus service. Arrive quite early but staff manage to get me in my room which was amazing after a 15hrs flight. Clean room and bathroom.was able to leave my luggage for a few days. Close to darling harbour and chinatown. Whilst the public areas were in need of refurbishment, there was evidence this was going on, the room itself was excellent, with everything you needed for a city break, the free wifi was a bonus, the shower room was far superior to the hotel I had stayed in Dubai on my way over. I would highly recommend this hotel for a short city break. The staff I can not recommend enough! They make the place, the gentleman who was on reception when we arrive 0900 24 Sept we cannot say enough about him. Helpful, informative and friendly. The location of course is excellent! Always have an inside room as the outside ones would be noisy though!. It was a nicely rehabilitated building. WIth modern windows, airconditioning, etc. Had shelf space. Was near the central station of sydney, so easy to get train to and from other places. Close to hop on hop off station. The staff was very helpful with helping with setting the clock. I like the staff always friendly and helpful The location was excellent and in walking distance to public transport and not too far to walk to the CBD The Bathroom was clean and looked like it had been renovated,showers were always hot which was good. The place is undergoing renovations so can be dusty and noisy at present. Location is in a area of closed down stores. The only stores with snacks and waters charged unreasonable prices, which were not posted. Not a pretty area, not pleasant area. There was not enough room in the bathroom to put your toiletries and on the bench top in the kitchenette they had some decorater items on the bench which did not need to be there which would have given a little more room to put things. Stairs at front, no elevator. Beds very hard but staff got us a foam pad that helped a bit. WiFi was unreliable but we managed to make very good use of it. There is only one elevator available and it is a bit slow but wasn't a huge issue. The lift. I had to wait for about 10 minutes before a hotel worker assisted me with the lift. The man at the reception did not explain how to use the card to open the door and it took another 10 minutes of trying until I asked the house keeping man to assist me with opening the door using his card. There was no one to assist me with my bags up to my room. It would have been good if someone had helped me. No Hairdryer even though ad said there was one. Hallways and stairwell were not very clean. The showers weren't in the best condition in my particular room but that would be my only dislike. Minimal annoyances like the noisy fan in the bathroom and the room was perhaps a little too small. But if you only have a small amount of luggage it's was fine for one or two nights. Noise levels during the night made sleep difficult. Outside and lobby are very poor and i thought i'd made a huge mistake until i got to the bedrooms which were great, although they were also about the be renovated do may be fine now. Towels were not replaced on the last day of our stay. Would prefer if the room was cleaned up everyday rather than every second day. I could not open my window. An older building with no double glazing and due to the hotel's position there was a lot of transport noise from road and rail.during the night. The light coming from outside...being a country person I guess I'm not used to that.... but heavier blinds or curtains would have been appreciated. In room 512 the shower head was loose and the bathroom door cannot be close properly. Some guests experienced refurbishment teething issues, which is to be expected, but I did feel very sorry for the staff having to handle them - they did seem a little bit under the pump. Fortunately, we weren't affected. quite small expensive. The lift is very slow, Luckily there was no queue when I had to use it, would hate too see the lifts busy. Also my access card didn't work one night...luckily reception was still open to fix this as they close from 11pm. Noting. The kitchen had no silverware. Traffic noise at night. We were happy with the hotel. Room size - too small for two people, bathroom basin design is ridiculously small and shaped - can't refill kettle directly from tap, 'wardrobe' too small (short), sugar sachets not replaced when room was serviced. Room was clean and very light, although a little on the small side. Water in shower at 6pm took many minutes before it was. Ben warm. Still being renovated. Renvations being carried out. No kids channels, no phone in room creaking floors that you can hear everyone moving around above and around the room. The hair dryer was not working properly but that was fixed easy!!. None.
