The Reef Retreat is a quiet and peaceful hotel, set amongst beautiful gardens, with a gorgeous pool in the dappled shade. Our two bedroom villa was very spacious, clean, and stylish and had a balcony set amongst the tree tops. We often had the run of the pool, which the kids adored. Clive very helpfully booked rental cars for us, suggested and booked tours, and even lent us an eskie for our trip to Green Island. We loved our stay, would highly recommend the hotel, and hope to come back.

The garden area appeared untidy and unattended. NO TV or phone reception on second night of stay. Un able to contact hotel reception at this time. No acknowlegdment/apology about this. Rooms were a bit tired - could do with a spring clean and the kitchen utensils replaced with new. The room was very dark (garden room shaded by a tall highrise next door). I'm sure there were better rooms but ours was not attractive because it was so dark and the louvre doors were very dusty. no reception on TV for ABC or SBS uncomfortable layout of furniture, eg viewing TV could only be done sideways. Booked a villa didnt expect 4 stories up stairs with luggage no help offered.villa usually a free standing building apartment would be more accurate discription more towels would good.

The guest facilities at the Reef Retreat include an undercover BBQ and dining area. Weekly BBQ's and open bar are held in peak times. A heated pool and spa, tour desk, beverages for sale in reception.

Palm Cove offers a variety of facilities and activities just a short stroll from The Reef Retreat, fishing at the jetty, sea kayaking, golf course, fitness centre, bicycle hire, tennis and squash courts, animal wild life park, restaurants and bars. There is also an opal display centre. Shop at the boutiques, art galleries and tourist shops on the waterfront at Palm Cove.

Palm Cove is centrally located for all the regions attractions. All tour companies pick up at our accommodation.

Important information to guests

Please note that some construction work will be taking place at the property. On 30 October 2017 the pool fences will be replaced. From 6-14 November 2017 the spa pool deck will be replaced. During both periods the pool will still be open. The Studio, One-Bedroom Suite, Superior Spa Suite and Two Bedroom Villas are serviced once during a 5-night stay. Please note that stays of 4 nights or less do not include a service, but this can be arranged at an additional charge. Clean towels are available upon request from reception on days when the room is not serviced. Please note that early departures will still be subject to full charge. Please inform The Reef Retreat Palm Cove in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation.

Travelling information

20 minutes drive North of Cairns on the Captain Cook Highway.
From the airport, turn right onto the highway and travel approx 20 minutes. Palm Cove 1km after Clifton Village. Turn right 200 metres past the Tropical Zoo into Vievers Road. Go to the end and turn left at Williams Esplanade, take the next left into Harpa Street. The Reef Retreat is 30 metres along on the right.
