Great great value! The price is no much difference from a backpacker hostel's private room, but it is much bigger, brighter and more comfortable and delightful, abusilutaly worth the price and more. My wife and I stayed at Ashton Gate with another couple and we were all very impressed. The cooked breakfast was ample... what people say » and delicious, with homemade jams and lemon butter.
Our hostess, Jennifer, was welcoming and informative and nothing was too much trouble for her.
If you like old-world charm, you should like Ashton Gate. It's spacious, nicely decorated room, with large, clean modern bathroom. Excellent breakfast in dining room; use of comfortable sitting room any time, with tea, coffee, home-made biscuits and even a nightcap from a crystal decanter if you so wish. House is well lit at night - easy to find your way in. Jennifer's suggestions for places to dine were welcome. Thank you for a wonderful Tasmanian winter stay.
