It's been a few years since I stayed at La Maison, and the standard seemed still very good, it is clean, secure and quiet. Continental breakfast is included, and in a very nice dining room. I didn't have a car on this occasion, but it is worth mentioning that there is undercover off street parking. There is a quiet lounge area for guests, and the staff are very helpful. Good basic accommodation. Our room (#15) had plenty of space for the three of us (couple and child) and was clean and well-maintained. We had a car, so u/ground parking was handy with easy access to our room. Included breakfast was basic, but convenient.
all reviews » The location and the comfort of the room, being winter the electric blankets and endless hot water was a pleasure. The breakfast too was lovely and the staff very friendly. The view from our room was also beautiful. Clean, comfortable, spacious room. Good to have a car - would be a bit of a walk to town (30 mins?). Check whether its on the route of the free Katoomba bus? Close to great easy bush walks. *Location was perfect, very handy for buses and sights *room size was good for us, had a bath, *garden area was nice but was too cold to use, *lounge looked good, although never used it. Pleasant location, in centre of Katoomba. Nice older street, close to restaurants etc. Comfortable, warm rooms with good ensuite facilities. Private, quiet, good parking. Well priced. they have very kind and friendly staff who are very helpful highly recommended. have told friends we were very impressed.loved havin breakfast included. Closeness to scenic world and 3 sisters. Breakfast being included was a bonus, as was the underground parking. Art deco interior very welcoming. But this was far too big..and cold for 2. some people may have missed out, as there was 2 spare single beds. *Great location - walking distance from town centre or to Tourists center - ie: Echoe Point. *Under cover parking- that's nice. *Good shower water pressure. This place should be turned into backpacker accommodation. Would have a greater turn over - or go totally Romance/Honeymoon. . The location was great, linen was clean. It is about a brisk 20 minute walk from Katoomba railway station, but even closer to Echo Point, which is one of the main reasons that visitors come to this part of the country. There is an internet and library room, but it appeared that to use the internet you had to create a wifi account, and the minimum charge was $6. I didn't ask management about this, so apologies if I've got it wrong. Nothing we didn't like, but noting this for other travellers - tv reception poor, breakfast time 8:30-9:30 am only. Location is quiet, but room can be noisy - fridge switches on, can hear shower and flushes from neighbouring bathroom. The television.... was very small and not so clear. Breakfast was a little disappointing. Not bad though. *Breakfast was average, no hot food available while weather was cold *internet wifi rate was too expensive, should really be cheaper or even free to guests *Bar lacked atmosphere, but then it was only us there, some entertainment on colder nights would help. Room could have done with somewhere to put suitcase. TV not so good - remote didn't work & could only get 3 chanels. Electric kettle cord didn't reach power point - had to put it on the floor. Breakfast a bit basic - cereal, canned fruit, yoghurt, toast & spreads, tea or coffee. Maybe hot breakfast could be offered for an extra charge. Breakfast area a bit cold despite heating. OK if sitting at a table next to the fire. Nothing major. Nothing. Bed a little hard and room a bit small. Would have loved to have been able to eat dinner there. No bar service or choice of hot breakfast food. Also no other meals available. The room we had needed some maintenance , bed lights,pelmets on blinds, leaking shower recess, the fridge ran continually and a bedside clock radio would have been handy. Spa wasn't working....despite so much advertisement. Breakfast forgettable. Only coffee was good. Staff slow but friendly. Sauna wasn't working.Bar did not seem to be opened at all.Would have liked a cooked breakfast.Did not like deluxe rooms looking onto fallen down old fence. Breakfast finishes too early. pillows to large personal like thats all. Web site said spa & restaurant???? Well spa was out of order and restaurant has not been operational for a number of years ??????. very noisy one nite a lot of door slamming, I think I got to sleep about 1 in the morning I will not be going back there. A long walk down hill from the train station about 20mins. Breakfast very basic - toast, cereal, coffee or tea. Room a bit dusty. No room phone; no hairdryer; no travel advice compendium or box of tissues (initially missing but remedied when requested). Staff did attend to most issues promptly when requested. The breakfast was too simple, no fresh fruit, no bread choices . The room tv did not work as well as the computer in the hotel. Breakfast was very basic- limited variety of cereals and either brown or white cheap bread. Unhealthy and bland. Our room was ok- the bathroom was mouldy with dirty stains on the walls and cracker tiles. Advertised spa facilities were out of order. The rooms have not been improved since we visited last (3-4 years ago about 5 times). Breakfast is more basic - it was better then! We were charged $120.--FR, 15o,--Sat on the net while the sign on the footpath offered $9o,-- stays. I didn't like noise the bar fridge made. it kept waking me up so I turned it off at night. Stood in reception for 10minutes before lone staff member arrived. They lost another customer in that time. Power outage about 9 pm. The shower floor needs a very good clean. No tissues provided. Breakfast very basic. Your web site states a restaurant and we were expecting to be able to purchase dinner. There is not one. *Bad beds: woke up with very sore back. (And I am a camper, not a princess) *This place needs repairs, but not by whomever is doing the patching up. It is so off putting. *Central heating was turned off, even after asking for additional heater, which was promised but never delivered. *Breakfast: No hot food - went to have real full breakfast in Leura from $16. Well worth it *furniture needs major upgrade. Torn and ripped & dirty. Booked a queen room and got a double, (two single beds) breakfast was a nice inclusion but only including basic cereals and toast. Spa was very dirty... Shower was mouldy...Very outdated for the price you pay. Also not impressed that we could have shown up with no booking and paid $40 less. We were told that they would fix the bed situation but nothing happened. All a bit tired and dated. The walls are paper thin and the noise from the plumbing and TV in other rooms was bad. Worst of all was the fridge which made a terrible racket on and off and kept us awake throughout the night. The fridge is probably fixable--just an off switch would help--but the other issues are about the building itself and could be costly to fix. I regret to say we would not stay there again. its no more than a backpakcers with hi prices. the room info was confusing...the ad reds like there is 2 rooms adn it was 1 room with 2 beds the place is bit rundown. advertisies internet service in rooms but its an out sourced service and that is misleading and very inconvenient. Rooms were not clean (dusty), hot water (shower) in room did not work, TV was old, fridge made a loud noise all night long, no lifts in the facility. The breakfast was probably the worst I have ever experience in the past 8 years. Zero value and a ripoff. I had roosters crowing outside my window from 5 am every morning. Smelt damp/musty. Over priced for room we stayed in. 3 adults ...beds too close together, was like a backpackers.The hotel needs refurbishment. Continental breakfast was the worst we have had. Tinned peaches 3 days in a row. Curtains falling of rail. Room desperate for refurbishment. Breakfast poor. smell. Not completely cleaned as the coffee/tea cupboard was not cleaned from previous occuppants. At 8 o'clock the lone staff member was cleaning the b/fast area from previous morning.Poor standard would not stay again ,poor value. Dark dingy bedroom, basic restaurant, poor breakfast, disinterested staff. If it names as a backpackers,i may think it is okay. But the garden is bush. Lights are too dark to read information booklets. Curtains are dirty. Also in my booking paper it has garden views. But I just saw next doors car place. breakfast was terrible Rooms were dated and unwelcoming No tea or coffee in room TV did not work very well Overall very poor.
