Reception staff - very friendly at each encounter. I was welcomed with unsolicited suggestions and free maps - very nice touch you would normally only see in a small country town. I am not that fussy but . . . I find dry irons in hotel rooms very frustratingly ineffective and a statement of mistrust. Cap Exec provided a steam iron and it was a very effective one (took a pic; will buy one). Breakfast buffet was very, very reasonably priced - didn't feel any urge to over-eat just to get my mone.
all reviews » My wife fell and broke her arm 3 hours after we arrived; I was diagnosed with DVT 3 days later. We had to extend our stay by 3 days as doctopr would not allow me to drive home. Staff was very helpful indeed in finding another room for us for 3 days even though the hotel was heavily booked. Could not speak more highly of the staff. Also good to be able to have dinner brought to our room. Room was spacious, clean and having a fridge was helpful for Our family as we were traveling through and needed to keep ice bricks cold for our drinks etc... The hot chocolate & kit kats was a even better thanks we all enjoyed these!!! The Italian Resturant was also excellent. Convenient location and good breakfast included in our tariff. Good value at a busy time in Canberra when lower priced places were hard to find. Good to have a kitchenette - free KitKats were a nice touch! Also liked chocolate as an addition to the usual tea and coffee. Location was close to everything we were interested in seeing during our visit. Breakfast was very nice. The room was very well set up with self catering facilities. There were tea, coffee, hot chocolate and kit kats generously supplied. Check in and out was friendly and efficient. It was also surprisingly quiet considering it was fully booked. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I had an issue with my booking but they were very understanding and were able to sort it out for me without a lot of drama. The rooms were good. Clean and comfortable. It was ideal for what i wanted. Great value for money for a family of 5 and FREE parking!. I was one of the Wall to Wall riders. I found the staff friendly and the accommodation excellent being very roomy and comfortable. I plan on bringing my wife to this motel for a weekend trip to Canberra very soon. Easy access from a main road, secure car parking, great positioning for Canberra activities, friendly office staff, good layout of room, good restaurant/meal facilities, a comfortable room with good light. We had a family room and a studio room. Studio was great and had more room in than the family room. Would not have been able to cook and eat in family room as there was no space. Nice and clean. The general cleanliness of the hotel, the staff's cheery excellent manner, the room was just great with everything one could want, being so close to the city centre was also a bonus. The bed was extremely comfortable - i didnt want to get out of it! There was everything you needed in the room and the breakfast was great. Very good value for money. I liked that it wasn't too far from restaurants by car.I Was great that it had a kitchenette and it was nice to find chocolate treats in the fridge. Great kitchenette, large fridge, good beds and clean bathroom. Location was fantastic - we could walk to the Civic centre restaurants easily. The room was very basic - it is an ageing property, but it served its purpose. The lighting levels were very low in the room especially as a bunk bed was obscuring the window for daylight. Night lighting was insufficient to read the small print without sitting right under the light source. Room a little to close to the road side traffic noisy. The room smelled like smoke when I arrived and the bed was a little soft. It was a little noisey both from the street and the room next door. Nothing really. There's building site next door at the moment but no problems unless u want to stay in during the day. our room decore outdated room needs a paint. As an Elderly couple I feel there should be an anty slip surface instlalled in the Bath Shower. Didn't get to try the restaurant, but what we did see from the menu was that it was a little pricey with not much options for kids. N/A. What is there not to like!. limited information on what to see and do, eat options etc for the city. Booked months ago and rooms were on same floor but as far away from each others as possible which meant if older kids went out we had to juggle rooms to stay with younger child. Not ideal at all. Nothing. The bed lights need to be brighter or a double adapter/dual power-point available to make use of the brighter desk light. I found reading in bed hard - unless of course my eyes are aging :). parking can be a problem when the hotel is fully booked. Noisy until 10pm both nights with groups using common areas, but quiet after this time. The narrowness of the parking spaces is a shocker and it's not secure at all! Our room had been smoked in - quite recently - so I had to wonder why nothing had been done about it. I asked to be moved and the staff were reasonably coopperative but given they had a full house somebody else got the smelly room that night. Room was a bit small to be called a family suite.Parking was a problem every night and outside very noisey as the louvers didn't close properly.I Think it needs an upgrade as it is rated ****. Room was too small with the bunk beds - hardly any floor space. Looked a lot bigger in the photos. Car parking spaces were tiny and really stressful to get into. everything ok for us. the room was a bit dark but only there for two days so who cares really. Rooms lighting was poor. The elevator was too slow. Breakfast buffet needed to have more daily variety. Look at double glazing on road facing rooms, road noise was pretty loud early mornings. The rooms / bathrooms are getting a bit old & tired could do with a revamp. The old style shower headpiece over the bath - a more modern style shower recess would be far more accommodating. for dinner, the pasta dishes were far too spicy for both of us, but I guess, this is just our taste..less would have made 2 nice dishes much more enjoyable....this is the only complaint. The dark haired girl on checkin was not friendly at all - I felt like I was a burden to her. She should be taken off reception duties. No channel 10 on TV. the gym wasn't very big and spa room hasn't any privacy between the two spa's. The lift was a bit clunky. no free WIFI for guests. Some of the staff can be slightly opionaited. it needs double glaseing to reduce traffic noise, squeaky bathroom door, car park bays a bit tight. Crockery and balcony dirty. All good for this visit. Could do with a bit more parking.
