Location was the overriding consideration. Proximity to Sovereign Hill. I was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the room and comfort and facilities available.Staff were helpful and friendly. I was especially happy with the open fire in the dining room. Availability of bicycles. Everything about the Lodge is fantastic. The Lodge is a pleasant balance of being classy and upmarket while still being friendly and welcoming. All the staff are always more than happy to assist you where they can.
all reviews » The room was nice and cosy and we had a fantastic night away. I found it was easy to relax in such lovely surroundings. I very much enjoyed staying at the Lodge, even though we could only be there one night. I like the fact that even though it is on the highway you wouldn't know it. It is quiet, the surroundings are set in a natural bush setting and very peaceful. The dinner I had in room was delicious. The setting is beautiful. The staff are very friendly and polite. The check in and check out process was easy and fast. The room was clean and luxurious. I liked everything about Ballarat convention centre and lodge. The rooms were lovely the grounds looked amazing it was very luxurious. Beautiful surroundings, great location opposite Sovereign Hill, comfortable room with lovely toiletries. Overall a wonderful stay!. Proximity to Sovereign Hill, Ballarat. Comfortable bed. Large bathroom. Reasonable rate. Room was a little dark felt cold, not enough natural light. Only downside was I didn't know about the complimentary buffet breakfast, I'll know this for next time!. Dark room with dark furniture. Easy chairs were well worn. parties in our group were charged different rates, even those who had the same size and types of rooms. when asked staff could not/would not produce a price list for rooms. N/A. Nothing. Check in was slow, restaurant food was barely average. Lack of choice for breakfast. nothing. Hole on road outside rooms were full of water during rain made us difficult to bring luggage and child from car to room. Wet muddy carparking area near room 50....difficult unloading cases etc. It is in need of some maintenance outside getting a bit tired. Had to leave the heater on all night. Parking a bit hit or miss. car parking not out front of rooms however still fairly close so not a big problem. Power point for jug in toilet. The beef steak was crap. Booking not made! Although compensation and apologies given. We were given the wrong room at first. We found the lights on and the bed undone. It was not a good "first impression". Furnishings and bathrooms feel very tired. Aircon didn't work during this chilly stay but staff quickly brought over a tiny fan heater (rather than offer a change of room). Staff all seemed to smell of cigarette smoke. Impossible access to spa bath, gap around door allowing insects in. Bed located under window, heads touched curtains, so light and/or cold air made sleeping uncomfortable. No response to phoned lost property query.
