  This is a great alternative option for staying overnight in Naoshima (very recommended for seeing all the sights which is difficult in one day). The host is incredibly friendly - speaks English & French. He helped us rent bikes around the corner at the port and took us to pick them up. This end of the island is very quiet - great bar (with fre... τι λέει ο κόσμος » e wifi) & cafe around the corner at the port open until 2am but morning food options difficult to find. Easy and gorgeous bike ride to Benesse Hou - The gardens surrounding the house, ( and easily viewed from the room) were gorgeous. The room was large and open, with antique ( though a little worn) hand painted paper screens. The couple who owned the residence were very kind and helpful and made themselves available most of the time.
