Set in a restored jailhouse, this Ottawa hostel is adjacent to the Ottawa Convention Centre and Rideau Centre Mall. It features rooms with free Wi-Fi and serves a daily continental breakfast. With unique styles and hardwood floors, all rooms at the Jail Hostel Ottawa have access to shared bathrooms. Each morning guests can enjoy a breakfast consisting of fruits, cereal, bagels, milk, coffee, tea and juice. Lockers and linens/towels are provided at the HI Hostel. Guests can relax in the common lounge and watch cable TV or read a book from the on-site library. The University of Ottawa and Chateau Des Charmes Wines are both 2 km from the hostel. Casino du Lac Leamy is 10 minutes’ drive away.

pros: - staff are friendly and helpful. - the location is fantastic in the heart of downtown Ottawa and very convenient. - all floors, washrooms and rooms are clean. - breakfast was so good. - for this location, it's worth the money. - clean and spacious shower area, - friendly and helpful staff, - excellent location, - absolutely special experience. The theme, the activities, very attentive staff, great place to make some good friends and some good memories.
όλα τα σχόλια » I liked the bar and the fact that they give you towels and sheets. Breakfast was plentiful. What we liked most was that is was kept real. The staff were very helpful and friendly. location, budget price, historical site and free breakfast were main features for us. generally I found it much more appealing than many hotels I have stayed in. The whole atmosphere was great. It was certainly a unique stay. The decorations The environment. Very cool fee. the whole ethos of it. It did what it said on the tin. There was an eeriness about it which added to the experience. Definitely a "themed" hostel, adds spice to what would otherwise be an ordinary stay. Location. Building ( a real heritage jail). Free WiFi & Breakfast included. Location mainly Breakfast was good. The breakfast is not very bad. The cheap price and kitchen. it's a little ok. some uniqueness? Jail hostel. The building: historical. Cool place to stay and great location. cons: I stayed in a cell room and the bed was not comfortable at all. it makes noise and hurts your back if you stay for long time. I hope they replace them with comfortable mattresses otherwise the hotel is fantastic. - cell room a bit worn out (burnt marks and holes on the wall), - wifi barely there in the cell and corridor. Bathroom access is a bit uncomfortable. I was on the 7th floor and there was only one (for male and female) and if not you had to go to another floor looking for one, but still they didn't have that many for such a huge hostel. The down side of having a bar though, is that you are constantly and annoyingly having to use a code to access every area. Couldn't find any outside ashtrays to put your cigarette butts in. The creaky , heavy cell door. nada. zip, zero and as many other types of nothing you can think of. Hoping to get spooked.. But I probably spooked them. Noisy guests make it unpleasant as sound carries easily in this facility - too bad, otherwise a great experience. breakfast. The selection was poor. Coffee was awful, no bagels, eggs were disgusting, only powder for cereal. Some floors/areas are real noisy due to loud air conditioning/vents outside the buildng. Very small cells without any windows...attention if you suffer from claustrophobia. No bathroom soap, didn't like the single jail cell where they put me,even though i didn't reserve it. My reservation was messed up. It was noisy at night somethings sometimes. The bed is so noisy when you moving. There is a band in this hostel and sometime they will have fun at 12am.....you know what I mean.....If you are crazy about R&R, Dont worry about it... The "no outside alcohol" rule ,the lack of outlets in the dormitory room and I didn't see any ghosts. rooms are over,i can't support saty in a room like box. There were bed bug. Staff not friendly. So many floors. Few restrooms. I slept in a bed with bed bugs (July 2013). Now I have an itchy rash all over my body that takes weeks to clear.Too expensive for a private room for what you get.
