  the staff were very friendly and ALWAYS said aloha every time they passed. The pool and gym were wonderful and we used them every day. I liked having the Kings and Queens market close by as we had a choice of eating establishments. the beach was protected and great for water sports. Down the beach was the Lava Lava Bar - we ate their quite a few... was die leute sagen » times and had drinks at sunset. Thanks to John and NIck there for a wonderful part of our stay. - The beach was very nice. Our room would have been perfect if we'd had a full ocean view instead of a partial because of a tree. The gym is nice and clean. The concierge was helpful but be warned, it is run by Expedia so no Kama'aina rates. The nearby markets were convenient and a good option if you don't want to eat at the hotel. Several good restaurants as well as a food court are available.

  Forget the reviews about how it takes a long time to get anywhere - plot courses of shortest distances on the map they give you and only use tram / boat for novelty. Awesome bridges and islands around lagoon tend to be shortest route(s). Staff and service best I've ever seen. They all live in Hawaii - they're happy! It really is quite impressive. Lots of things to do. You really don't ever even have to leave the resort. But if you want to one of my favorite beaches Hapuna is right up the road. I also really liked the products they had in their bathroom so much so I bought some to take home with me.

  It's an older resort but that is not a problem at all. Fabulous resort facilities, very clean and comfortable room (partial ocean view) with great service. You can't swim in the ocean directly from the hotel but it is such a dramatic location as the resort is positioned directly on lava rock. Views of the ocean are stunning. A hire car is a good idea. - Beautiful location, spent the most of my time at the resort because it was so beautiful and relaxing. Amazing pool to sit back with a Mai Tai and watch the sunset. Watched the manta rays feeding and ate delicious 'spider shrimp' at Rays on the Bay. Would definitely recommend to others and would stay there again myself

  The staff was really helpful when the door keys they gave us did not work and sent up someone who had to go and get special equipment to clear out the lock so it would take the key. Lots of shopping, and food variety within easy walking distance. Extreemly friendly staff. Accomodated us well the last day, with parking and beach towels, as our plane was very late to leave.

  The hotel was nice. It was very fitting to the small country feel in Hilo. Jade was so nice and very prompt with having stuff out for breakfast in the morning.   Great spot 3 miles from volcano national park, great access but far enough away to be spared exposure to the acid in the air right in the park. All of the beds were large comfortable King beds. A generous bowl of fruits and coffee were provded. We were allowed to stay past check out time - There were three bedrooms with very large beds. One of the bedrooms was a suite, very comfortable. The kitchen and living area were spacious and comfortable, the decoration was nice, everything was very clean, there were flowers and fruit waiting for us when we got there. Absolutely no hassle. And the surroundings were very quiet. We slept really well there.
