  Exceeded my expectations, the room was large with lots of free space as was my en-suite. The breakfast selection was amongst the best I have ever had, can you believe they even make their own bread and yogurt! Both of which were simply delicious.   It was probably the best family run hotel we have ever stayed at. We will be back and will recommend to all our friends. The owners were very friendly, the room was clean and of a good size, the food was to die for. Oh and it had a pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. Robert who i believe was the owner was only happy to help very welcoming and his staff were just as nice.   The hotel is in a gorgeous old building in a quiet neighberhood a bit away from the city. It has the hallmarks of past elegance but is showing its age. However, for cyclist weary from a long day on the road, we loved its lack of pretension. We had a huge room with a gorgeous view over the river. Depending on weather, seating was either outside on a patio or inside full glass, but both were overlooking the garden and the river. It was - The location within yards of the South West Coastal Path. Main bus route at the end of the road. Just a short 1/2 mile walk along the path opposite the hotel to the centre of Bideford. Breakfast was very good, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Cycle hire on the Tarka Trail in approx 1 mile away. The view from the bedroom and dining room over the fiver was superb.
