  Hostel Aguliar is an excellent Hostal. It is in the middle of the city. I loved that I could tour all day, and go back to freshen up around the corner. I was able to walk to the Hard Rock Cafe' for some American food, but the location offeres many Tapas locations, as well as bakery places for morning coffee/ breakfast. They are simple, but of a good size and very clean. The staff is extremely helpful! The hotel doesn`t suggest breakfast, but there are a lot of cafes nearby.

  The family that run this place are very kind and helpful . Room was very clean , with a small shower cubicle.   It was perfect stay. Apartment is centrally located (easy to reach historic centre and all 3 museums), it is very spacious and well-furnitured with intersting design. Staff was friendly - they called us in the morning on the arrival day and met at the apartment building.   The best value for the money. During our trip to Spain we stayed at 4 different hotels at the same price range and Hostal Carrera was the best. Excellent location at the very heart of Madrid, walking distance to all major attractions and metro. Very clean. Staff is friendly, helpful and speaks English.
