  My wife and I loved staying in a small and more traditional Japanese house, with the use of futon bed. The hostel was very clean and tidy. The meals organised by the hostel were delicious and well presented, with free tea and coffee and nice heated sitting area. The staff were very helpful and inviting. - Very clean and cozy.   The owner had his own dyeing classes and it was a very unique experience doing my own dye patterns on the shirt with hot wax. The hostel was really uniquely japanese, clean and what greeted me at the doorway were the dolls on display for the hinamatsuri and gold fishes in unique tanks that were so intricate and lovely. Good internet connections, also computers available for free in a magnificent tv room.

  Good value for money with a few free things thrown in like washing, bicycle etc. You have to look for it on the notice board. I wasn't told and by the time I found out, it was too late for me to utilise. - Excellent location near JR station and bus station. Supermarket and quite a few restaurants & onsen within walking distance.

  The owner was nice and provided us pick up / drop off at the train station when we requested (when we arrived we asked a lady at the Aso station information center to notify the hotel). The breakfast was excellent. Hotel has 2 private hot water baths (one outdoors), Japanese and European restaurants are 10 mins walk from the hotel. And it can be reserved so no worries about showing your naked butt to strangers. The staff are ok with a bit of English, but they're real friendly. Kudos to them for recommending the nice kaiseki restaurant just down the road. Breakfast is delicious. Room was spacious.

  The indoor onsen was lovely! A little small but very nice and relaxing, gender-separated, and very hot! I could've spent hours and hours in there. The staff spoke English well enough, and were kind enough to let me leave my heavy backpack at the hostel even after I checked out so I could make a day trip to Yufuin. When we arrived, they were outside doing a nagashi somen/BBQ event. Met some very nice people there. You also get a free drink ticket for a bar nearby. We paid for a shared twin room, but we had our own bathroom. There's also an onsen downstairs. The hostel is very close to the station and there's parking, too! I highly recommend this place.

  The location is great, it's just a five minute walk to the station and you have restaurants and bars all around you. Kokage has its own little onsen that you can use free of charge and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Beppu itself must have been a much better place some decades ago - now it looks a bit depressing... There was tea service waiting in room. It is not fancy at all. It was fun to wake up to the magpies and temple chimes at 7am. Great sashimi with excruciatingly cordial waiters just down the street. The public onsen by the spa beach is very nice and very local.
