  Generator was a great place to stay in Venice. Even though it is on Giudecca, there is a vaporetto stop near the hostel and getting to St. Mark's Square is quick and easy. Staff were generally helpful and made a special effort to help us locate a lost piece of luggage at the airport. It is on a separate island from the city center, but public transport is working all the night so it's not a problem.

Just 5 minutes from the station, and the restaurant next door is good. We won't bother looking anywhere else for our stays in Venice.
