  Were able to sleep 5 in one room for the night, very affordable, in the heart of the city, and easy enough to get to from the airport via the Alilaguna water service. We did have to haul all our cruise luggage through the streets from the stop, and over 2 canals, but was worth it in the end for the location. Staff at the Relai Venezia, where you pick up the keys (next door), were very polite and helpful. Have a good detailed map when you arrive, unless you get dropped off at the door by a water taxi. - The apartment with a view was fantastic, huge living room, bedroom and bathroom with an adequate kitchen. We had the option of staying in with a few bottles of prosecco a couple of nights because there was so much space. The staff were fantastic, directing us around Venice and giving a tips about how to beat the queues (bell tower after 6.30, fool doge's palace online).
