  The Shirley Arms is a fantastic hotel in the lovely market town of Carrickmacross. The rooms are spotlessly clean and bright, en suites are again spotless and the range of toiletries are great.   When we arrived at Killyliss, Pauline, our hostess, greeted us with tea and cakes which we ate in a sitting area surrounded by books travel information and antiques. She was amazing. Gave us lots of information on the area, the restaurants. She helped us to contact knowledgeable people in the area re: genealogy. Killyliss was clean, comfortable, attractively furnished and - We had to ring for directions -and it was late in pm and Pauline ,the proprietor was happy to oblige.We were met with such a warm genuine welcome , even arriving at night.The electric blanket was on, and a pot of tea was on offer if we wished.Breakfast was freshly cooked for individual preferences, and a varied selection of fruit yogurts and cereals also on offer.   Very comfortable hotel with excellent facilities. My 11yr old son loved the pool, where he spent a lot of his time. The bedrooms were very well equipped with all you would need, plus hotel food was very tasty. Staff were pleasant and helpful too.   I stayed at the Hillgrove for 3 nights with my mum and youngest sister, nothing was a bother to any member of the super staff in paticular the ladies who look after the rooms, we were provided with extra pillows and the room was serviced each day, the food was delicious and we swam twice and enjoyed the outside hot tub in the middle of November, t... was die leute sagen » hat was our second visit, another sister joined us in March for an overnight stay and we said then we would return for a longer break and we were not - We stayed here for 3 nights & it was fantastic. All the staff were helpful & friendly, couldn't do more to make your stay better. The food was delicious & good value for money. The big chair etc outside were good fun. Plenty to keep the kids occupied, definitely family friendly. The swimming pool is brilliant we spent a good bit of time there. Also I had a massage in the spa, so relaxing I'd recommend it to anyone. Very happy.

  very warm welcome, phone calls in advance to ensure I knew how to get there and to check time of arrival, very comfortable room, excellent breakfast, flexible timing, able to return very late from a wedding with no problem, offered a lift to collect car the next morning, genuine interest in making sure it was a good experience, very interested in ... was die leute sagen » guests - The family-friendly atmosphere was more than welcoming and the warmth and friendliness of our hosts was far more than expected. Our breakfasts were to order and wonderfully filling and sustaining. Our room was quiet and comfortable and very clean. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived to the time we left. A wonderful experience!
