The service from the relief manager. He was very helpful and obliging however the room he offered (evidently because we booked through letsbookhotel.com ) was very cramped. If we booked direct with motel we would have been offered free breakfast. The staff (Gail) was great and very helpful. Breakfast facilities were great - generally the Motel was a nice place to stay - close to all Gundagai facilities and the rooms were quite comfortable.

The reception lady was a typical friendly country person and it was a pleasure dealing with her. Everything was clean and tidy and well presented. Very pleased with our request to change rooms from upstairs to ground floor, management made the change upon arrival which pleased my wife. Close to the highway (but not too close so you do not hear the road). Room not facing the parking so you are not awake by all the people leaving at 5.30AM and warming their engines for 10minutes (common in Australia). We were given an upgrade which was lovely much appreciated as we did not know quite what the room would b like. Room facilities ok for price. Size of room. Location. The room size. Parking a little tight. Soundproofing in the hotel was not very effective and it was easy to see that some guests may get annoyed with noise from others. The air conditioner, it was too slow heating up & instructions were a little difficult to follow. No foxtel in our room as advertised. Too much concrete needs more landscape treatment?. the parking is a bit cramped for a big car. TV was hard to view. Tissue box empty. The guest manual in the room out of date, ie no mention of the WiFi. Just costs for Internet. Restaurant not open; air conditioner would not operate correctly. TV was a bit small. taps were difficult to use. I suggest new washers. none. No couch in the family room. noisy hallways, squeaky floorboards in main building, minimal soundproofing in walls of building with room numbers 20 onwards. Tight parking. small tv. The smell in the room was the same as the smell in the old peoples home that my father spent his last years which brought back bad memories and is not a pleasant odour. I'm not sure if that is to do with the cleaning products used but both of us noticed the smell immediately and independantly. Like all Australian motels, room a bit old fashioned. We ate in dining area and it was a disappointment. One meal not delivered as ordered. Presentation of drinks was poor - bottle of beer opened by waiter at table, used his t shirt to try to open it. Chef admitted to using powdered soup! Taste was awful! The food was not worth prices charged. Price was double - no economical two adult plus to kid bed options in this town for an overnight stay. Breakfast very basic. We thought the standard wasn't comparable to other similar priced accommodation we have experienced. We were put into a family room alongside a noisy family and didn't get much sleep. Would have preferred standard room for mature couple. Also thought surcharge for breakfast in room was inappropriate and this charge not advertised in the directory when booking the accommodation. We have never had surcharge imposed for room breakfast service in the past. room was tiny v advert & a hassle to get to from car park . no continental breckie .
